Policy

HOURS OF OPERATION

The center is open Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. We accept children from 3 months old to Kindergarten ages.
  2. A complete enrollment application.
  3. A current physical examination form (HRS 3040) and immunization form (HRS680) must be on file in the school office by the first day of the child attendance.
  4. Flu Shot Guide for Parents.
  5. Food Program Application.

PAYMENT POLICIES

  1. Tuition is due weekly on every MONDAY MORNING.
  2. Payments may be made by cash, check or money order.
  3. Payment made after Monday will incur a late charge of $10.
  4. A return charge of $25.00 will be charged if a check is returned.
  5. Payment is due regardless of child’s absence.
  6. If your child is ill for two weeks or more you only pay one week (Doctor’s note).
  7. Children picked up after 6:00 in the evening will be charged $1.00 per minute. If you will be late to pick up your child please contact us at 305-260-9700.
  8. A Registration fee is required at the time of enrollment and is paid once every school year. This fee is non-refundable. This fee covers school materials and holds the child’s spot. Registration is limited in order to provide personalized attention to each child within a small group. If you have more than one child, please ask how much your payment will be.
  9. The Center allows one week’s vacation a year without pay after the child has been enrolled in our center for one year, a week throughout the year. If the child is out for more than the vacation time stated above, tuition must be paid to secure his/her place.

HOLIDAYS

The center will be closed the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • New Year’s Eve
  • 4th of July
  • Memorial Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
  • Good Friday

Any other day the center closes parents will be notified a week in advance. Holidays are paid days.

OPEN DOOR POLICY

Sweet Start Academy has an open door policy. Parents may visit their child during the day so long as such visits do not disrupt the class. Parents may also call the office any time to check on their child. Any questions, comments or concerns about your child’s welfare or the policies of Sweet Start Academy should be directed to the office.

DRESS CODE

All students are required to wear our Pre-school’s uniform which may be purchased from our school. Complete uniform is mandatory. The only shoes that may be worn to the center are sneakers or other closed-toe shoes. NO SANDALS OF ANY KIND. This is for the safety of your child.
Please do not allow your child to bring toys, video games, jewelry, candy, gum, etc. to school. The center can not be responsible for the loss of these items. No book bags.

SICK CHILD POLICY

If any child experiences the following symptoms, the parent/guardian will be called immediately. The parent/guardian will be expected to remove their child as soon as possible if the child has any of the following:

  • VOMITING
  • DIARRHEA
  • TEMPERATURE OF 99 DEGREES OR HIGHER
  • SEVER RASH
  • CONTAGIOUS DISEASE

DISCIPLINE POLICY

The staff of Sweet Start Academy will promote those positive methods of discipline which encourage self-direction, self-control, self-esteem and cooperation as well as respect for the feeling of others.
No child may be subject to spanking or any form of corporal punishment under any circumstances. Children may not be denied active play as a consequence of misbehavior.

Our center will use the following ways to manage the child’s behavior:

  • Positive reinforcement.
  • “Time Out” Procedures.
  • Discussions.
  • Withholding privileges.
  • Logical consequences.
  • Teacher-parent conferences.

SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

In case of severe weather conditions, the following policy will apply:

  1. If a tropical storm watch or hurricane watch is issued, the center will remain open.
  2. If a tropical storm warning or hurricane warning is issued, the center will close.
